Barrie Davenport, of Live Bold & Bloom, has given everyone this personal development goals checklist, listing The 110 Elements of a Bold and Happy Life.
It's a special gift just for Home Storage Solutions 101 readers, and I encourage you to download it [click here to get your copy now] (opens into a new window as a PDF), and either save it to a folder on your computer or iPad that you can access periodically, or even better, print it out so you can reference it, and even write notes on it.
When Barrie first provided this 10 page checklist to me, and I sat down to read it, it really gave me lots of food for thought. Basically, the idea of the checklist is that it lists all the areas or aspects of our lives that we should focus on to live and happy and fulfilled life, and lists aspirational statements, or personal development goals, for each area.
The purpose of the checklist is not to get down on yourself for not scoring a perfect score! In fact, no one being honest in their assessment of their lives will be perfect. Instead, this checklist lets you realize what you're already doing right and can help you focus on a few areas of your life you'd like to improve next.
Many of us have already made that decision, when we joined the 52 Weeks to an Organized Home Challenge. We decided we didn't like the organizational state (or lack thereof) of our homes, and we wanted to do something about it.
Many of you have commented to me that you love the Organized Home Challenge because it goes slowly, with one task at a time, to incrementally, in small steps, improve our homes. That's what you should do with a personal development goals checklist such as this too.
The reason I want you to save it somewhere special, that you can access again and again, and print out a copy if you can, is that this list is something you can come back to again and again, year after year.
I envision this as something you can look at, choose one or two things to work on, turn those things into a habit or routine that you've incorporated into your life, and then come back to see what you can focus on next.
In addition, you can use it to help you regroup, and set you back on course when life throws you out of whack. Review it and pat yourself on the back for what you're already doing well, and let it help you refocus on what's really important, for you.
When I was reading the list the first thing that struck me was how having an organized home, and living in a clutter free environment is actually a part of personal development. That means if you've already joined the 52 Weeks to an Organized Home Challenge you're already making great progress on the personal development goals checklist!
For example, here's a couple of numbers from the checklist everyone taking the Challenge is already beginning to work on, right now.
27. My home makes me feel happy and comfortable.
67. I love where I live, my home, its style, furnishings and decor.
70. I have cleared my living spaces of all unnecessary clutter and stuff that I no longer use or need. It is easy for me to let go of things.

I first got to know Barrie when I worked as the social media manager for another of her blogs, A List Blog Marketing (which is now no longer publishing). From that connnection I discovered her main blog, Live Bold and Bloom. It's a personal development blog where she challenges her readers to, you guessed it, live bold and bloom. It's inspiration and advice I know I have enjoyed, and if you aren't already a regular reader I'd encourage you to check out her blog and learn more.
Barrie is very passionate about everyone living their best life, and living their passions. I found out just how much when, in the course of working together on the marketing blog, I shared with her my story about how I ignored my own passions and aptitudes for a long time, trying to be a litigation attorney, where I was constantly in a world of conflict and fighting which I didn't enjoy. Then, when I couldn't take that lifestyle any longer I switched gears, becoming a writer instead, and I truly feel so much better now!
I could tell she was excited by my story from the fact that she wrote me an email back so quickly, and generously sent me one of her ebooks all about discovering and living your passion. Of course, I've already discovered my passion, or at least one of them (you can have more than one!)
